Orchids Types

This album reviews different native and introduced types of orchids found in the Malaysia. Orchids (family Orchidaceaeare), the largest family of flowers in the world, commonly get associated with the tropics.

 

  

Types of Orchids

Asking me what types of orchids there are is like asking me what types of people there are. Well, there are tall and short people, smart people and not-so-smart people, introverts and extroverts, people with different skin colors, and people from different parts of the world. There are two types of orchids: terrestrial orchids and epiphytes. Terrestrial orchids, such as Cymbidium,  grow on the ground, while epiphytes establish themselves on trees. Each type of orchids can grow in two different ways.

 		 

 

 
 

Orchids are the most beautiful, the most sensual, the most exotic, and the most costly flowers. The amazing thing is that all types of orchid have a very characteristic look with three internal petals and a cupped petal. However, if we look the history that orchids have existed for more than 100 million years, the various types of orchids is really sensible.
